Cheers to National Wine Day!

Celebrated on May 25th, National Wine Day celebrates that ancient elixir going back 8000 years!

The first documented evidence of wine comes from the ancient tribes of Jiahu in the Yellow River Valley of China around 7000 BC. The earliest known traces of wine are from Georgia (c. 6000 BCE), Iran (Persia) (c. 5000 BCE), Armenia (c. 4100 BCE), and Sicily (c. 4000 BCE). Wine reached the Balkans by 4500 BC and was consumed and celebrated in ancient Greece, Thrace and Rome.

Wine has played a major role in society for centuries. It has been used in religious ceremonies, as a medicine, and as a way to celebrate special occasions. Today, wine is enjoyed all over the world and is produced in many different countries.
